USB flash performance as boot drive is very hit-and-miss. There are no guaranties.

Yes. Kingston did ask for detailed photos of the device and device markings to make sure it's genuine and not some cheap knock-off.sudo smartctl -i /dev/sda2
showed brand and model info ok. It says SMART information (temperature and others) not supported. Liikely not fake. It was from a shop that has been in business for long time.
