you have to own the modifications and things which arise from them (such as APT wanting to revert you to systemd because you found a package that has a dependency on some part of systemd).
I assure you I am well proper used to packages asking for SystemD. Please show me where I complained about that. I reacted to python3-picamera2 wanting to pull in things like qt5-gtk-platformtheme and libgtk-3-common - I'm used to python libraries being rather more frugal in their requirements. And yes, that was true also with --no-install-recommends.
You were not calling out the issue with systemd directly, it was just an obvious problem implied in the complaint about the overall size of the install. I don't know why you're getting GTK stuff with --no-install-recommends of python3-picamera2, that doesn't happen on a reasonably standard Raspios 12 Lite 64-bit install; so that would seem to be down to something about your existing OS.
