Getting the best performance out of image sensors requires very detailed design on the electronics, generally with the assistance of the manufacturer. This generally won't happen at the cheaper end of the market.6by9 and sohonomura2020, thank you very much for your competent help in this matter.Unfortunately I don't have the technical skills to measure this. It's really a shame that my module is not suitable due to its design...Can you probe the AVDD and compare the wave form between IMX477 and IMX462 board?
If the AVDD of IMX462 board is not clean enough, it is not suit to the astrophotography application.
Even when you do have a decent and validated design you can find quirks with particular configurations, hence there was a recent change to the PMIC configuration on Pi5 due to it generating noise on the GS camera.
Adding a V4L2 control is a pain for sensor specific properties like this. Then having to plumb it through libcamera and rpicam-apps is even more of a faff. This is why I'd added it as a module parameter initially so that those who really know what they're doing can change it, but it doesn't impact the userspace APIs.I think that would be a very good idea, because ideally the mode helps to get a better picture. If the LGC/HCG switch needs to be tested here, I'm available, even if my module isn't suitable in the end because of the power issue. Can we define LCG and HCG mode and start with the option like --hcg ?
