Automation, sensing and robotics • Re: Reliable Tilt Switch

So, without getting to far in I am using a pi connected to an arduino. The arduino is receiving the signal. I think I have a pull down resister set up (might be pull up I forget, as it was set up some time ago) which pulls the high/low respectively based on if the circuit is open or closed.

Anyway the switch is a bit far away from the arudino/pi, so I have an optocoupler which connects to the 3.3 or 5 v rails which leads to the tilt switch. The optocoupler connects to the ardunio logic which determines closed or open state.
Ok. Are you polling on the Arduino, or using interrupts?
